A paradigm shift in the banking and financial environment of India has created an emergent need for a new genre of management professionals. These are needed in ever increasing numbers to meet the requirements of banks, financial institutions, non - banking financial corporations and more widely in the corporate sector.
Until recently careers existed only in nationalized banks, but with liberalization a host of private banks and financial institutions have emerged. The insurance sector has seen an impressive growth with around 25 new players in a short span of time. And recent study shows that 35% of recruitment in B-schools was in the banking and finance sector followed by 22% in the IT sector. (Source- Outlook Magazine Sept, 2006).
